MTCG has been awarded the Development of the Strategic Transit Plan for the Municipality of Salinas
Our firm has recently begun work on the development of a public transportation plan for the Municipality of Salinas, Puerto Rico. Salinas is a southern city on the coast of Puerto Rico and plays a significant economic role in Puerto Rico’s agriculture, boating, fishing and energy industries.
The changing landscape in public transit is enabling city governments to become a larger participant of a service that is largely provided by the public sector, but had previously been tasked to individual franchisees. Both fixed route and paratransit / demand response services are urgently needed by a resident community that is currently lacking mobility options.
Our work in Salinas will enable the public in communities from La Ochenta to San Felipe and from Villa Verde to Vázquez to regain mobility that had substantially diminished after many decades of competitive transit services. The geographic scope of the project will also include communities located in the northern parts of Salinas, such as Quebrada Yeguas and Cocos. Communities in Playa and Playita ward also stand to benefit from the development of transit services and transportation improvement projects that improve connectivity to jobs, services and markets.
Communities in the city center district can also expect improved transportation services and infrastructure that is better adapted to pedestrian needs.
